COVID-19 pandemic - Call for submissions

Dear colleague,
The COVID-19 pandemic is clearly impacting all the world, and once again the older generation are paying the highest price in this time of crisis. We are reaching out to all of the authors, reviewers and readers of GERIATRIC CARE to share a perspective article that has been published few days ago in the journal:

and that includes a call for submissions.

Because of the need for rapidly generated evidence to guide the care of the older people in the time of COVID-19 pandemic, GERIATRIC CARE has created a special section for COVID-19 articles that will allow for rapid review and publication, and we are calling on our authors and readers for submissions.

To serve the needs of geriatricians and the clinical and scientific communities at large, GERIATRIC CARE invites a broad range of submissions related to COVID-19 and geriatric patients. This may include: case reports, brief reports, commentary articles, narrative reviews, and original article including observational studies, epidemiological studies and early clinical experiences.

As per editorial policy, all submissions will be subject to peer review, but we will expedite publication and all accepted papers will be published open access free of charge.

We believe that in taking a proactive leadership role in this crisis, the GERIATRIC CARE journal and the SIGOT (The Italian Geriatric Society in the Hospital and Primary Care) will empower the scientific and clinical community to effectively plan for the care of older adults, and generate the highest possible level of evidence-based data to guide the most effective care of older patients during the COVID-19 pandemic time.
